Integrating Western and Ayurvedic Herbs This 2-part course will discuss the integration of herbal traditions of Chinese medicine with those of the Ayurvedic and Western herbal systems. Dr. Tierra will Introduce how best to integrate these systems for practical TCM applications.
Dr. Michael Tierra L.AC. OMD, AHG is one of the forerunners of the North American Natural Health movement and was amongst one of the first groups of acupuncturists to be licensed in the country. He began his herbal studies in 1968. He began studying Ayurvedic medicine and yoga with Baba Hari Dass, in the 1970's. In 1976 Michael started the first wholistic health school in Santa Cruz, called the Garden of Sanjivani. He authored the nationally acclaimed herbals, The Way of Herbs and Planetary Herbology. In the late 1970's Michael received his C.A. and N.D. degrees, studied Ayurvedic medicine in India for three months and Chinese medicine and herbology in China for one and a half months. In 1989, he founded the American Herbalists Guild, an organization whose goal is to establish standards for the professional practice of clinical herbal medicine in the United States. He received his Oriental Medical doctor's degree (OMD) from the San Francisco College of Acupuncture in 1987 and was part of the first group from the United States to study herbal medicine in China. He is co-founder of the American School of Botanical Medicine, lectures throughout the world and founded The East West College of Herbalism with David and Sarah Holland.

Ted Anneberg, L.Ac. graduated from the Nakazono Kotatoma Institute in 1983, where he developed a deep respect for the study and application of traditional Japanese approaches to healing. Dr. Hong Jin, DAOM, M.D.(China), L.Ac., earned her Medical Degree from Nanjing University of TCM in China in 1985. She taught Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine at Nanjing International Acupuncture Training Center, WHO's Collaborative Center. Dr. Robyn Adcock is a specialist in traditional Asian medicine who cares for children from birth to young adulthood using techniques that include acupuncture, acupressure and other manual therapies. Adcock served as the lead clinician for a clinical trial studying the benefits of acupressure to ease treatment-related symptoms in children being treated for cancer or receiving a stem cell transplants.

After earning a bachelor's degree with a double major in chemistry and theater and dance at Trinity College, Adcock earned a master's degree in Oriental medicine at Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine College, Berkeley. Xiping Zhou, MDOM, L.Ac. earned his Bachelor of Science in Medicine from HeiLongJiang University in the Peoples' Republic of China, where he graduated at the top of his class. The degree he earned there licensed him as a doctor of both mainstream Western medicine (in China) and TCM. For several years, Dr. Zhou was on staff at the affiliated hospital of the HeiLongJiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He specialized in both individualized treatment and in diagnosis in herbs, acupuncture, and TuiNa (Chinese medical massage). In July 1993, while serving as chief physician and full professor at HeiLongJiang Medical College, Dr. Zhou was asked to visit the United States to speak at the National Conference of Acupuncture about his success in treating stroke patients with paralysis. From 1994 to 2000, he taught acupuncture and Chinese medicine at the Midwest College for the Study of Oriental Medicine in Racine, Wis.

Dr. Zhou established his private practice in Madison and Milwaukee in 1996. Haihe Tian, A.P., Ph.D. graduated from Beijing TCM University with a Ph.D. He specializes in pain management, internal medicine, oncology, geriatric, allergic and immune diseases. Dr. Tian started to practice and teach acupuncture in America in 1997 and has treated over 100 thousand patients in China and America. He served as board member of American Association of Oriental Medicine (AAOM), committee of herbal medicine; Academic Dean, Clinical Director and Professor of TCM, committee member of Doctoral program, herbal medicine, core courses and CNT. The Structure of Classical Herb Formulas (Bilingual): In this course Dr. Wen-Chiang Pai will instruct on the coherence between the dynamic diagnosis and treatment protocols with classical herbal formulas. Wen-Chiang Pai, L.Ac.has been practicing Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), since 1980. He is one of only a few MD's to officially finish residency training in both contemporary Western and traditional Chinese medicine in Taiwan and practiced integrative medicine at China Medical University Hospital (Taiwan). After receiving his masters degree from their Institute of Chinese Medical Science, he moved to the U.S. in 1997 and since then, has been teaching in Chinese medicine colleges in Canada and throughout the U.S. including Pacific College of Health Sciences (NY) and New York College of TCM, with a focus on Herbal and Diagnosis classes, as well as many of the Chinese medical classics.

Herbal Case Studies in Internal Medicine (Parts 1 & 2): In this course, Dr. Bill Schoenbart will instruct on how to combine herbal formulas to treat internal medicine conditions based on his own clinical experiences. Part 1 will review COVID-19 case studies and Part 2 will review a variety of medical conditions treated with combination formulas.

Bill Schoenbart, DAOM, L.Ac. has been practicing traditional Chinese herbal medicine since 1992 and maintains a clinical practice in Santa Cruz, California. Bill is the associate chair of the Department of Herbology at Five Branches University, and he teaches classes in Chinese herbal medicine and medical theory to acupuncture students. TCM for Brain Fog in Long-Covid Patients: The long COVID-19 syndromes are being seen by many healthcare practitioners and some are quite severe. Brain damage related to COVID-19 is widespread, including neurologic and mental disorders. Brain fog is one of the most commonly seen symptoms. TCM brain theory is a newly developing area with focus on brain physiology, pathology, traditional treatment, and modern therapies. This course will introduce the TCM brain theory, the understanding of brain damages related to COVID-19, with specific focus on treatments of brain fog and loss of smell and taste, using acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.

Tianjun Wang Ph.D. graduated from Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine (NUCM) in 1989 and worked as a Medical Doctor and Acupuncturist in Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, Nanjing, China for 18 years. Dr. Wang completed his PhD at NUCM, studying and researching Acupuncture in the treatment for depression. Dr. Wang was a clinical supervisor and Vice-professor at NUCM. From 2001 to 2003 he worked as a Lecturer and Acupuncturist in the Mediterranean Regional Centre for Traditional Chinese Medicine (MRCTCM), MALTA. Dr. Wang Was a Senior Lecturer and the Director of Acupuncture Clinic at the University of East London UK (UEL) from 2007 to 2014. He is a Visiting Professor of Liaoning University of TCM, China from 2009. Dr. Wang specializes in depression relief, brain health, pain management and women's health.

Cupping Therapy in Integrative Medicine & Cancer Care: This course will offer insight into the knowledge and skills gained through Dr. Park's many years of experience in practicing and teaching integrative medicine and cupping therapy. Dr. Park will discuss modern and ancient theories of cupping and give specific instructions for modern plastic cupping and modified fire cupping therapy for integrative medicine. The cupping techniques taught in this course are intensive based on Dr. Park's experience in treating clinical conditions with this approach.
